Regulation of the Cabinet dated on 24 the December 2007 (Dz. U. Nr. 251, pos. 1885)

Starting from the 1. January 2008 a new regulation changing the Polish Classification of Business Activity was introduced. The essence of the change of regulation is the businessman’s obligation to adjust to the changed codes PKD. The whole process will end on the 31 st December 2009. A new classification (called PKD 2007) differs from the old one significantly, in such a way that practically the activity of all businesses will be given a new code. A change will include all the subjects entered to the National Court Register, thus all the subjects that can be classified as the businesses especially such companies as: private, commercial and individual businessmen. The change was ordered by ONZ for national economics from all over the world. The new classification was accepted by the European Union and OECD.

How the reclassification will be made?

Subjects that start the business will obtain the code according to the new classification already. When filing for the REGON number in the column titled “the type of business”, one need to put the code in accordance with the PKD 2007. Taking into consideration the fact that the change will last till the end of 2009 these subjects shall obtain the code consistent with the PKD 2004 as well. Automatically, the new code will be given to the subjects that change their scope of activity. Submitting the new motion is sufficient in this case. Businesses already existing will be subject to the changes starting on 1. July 2008. The method will be simple. GUS will sent out the actualization questionnaire which will be announced by the chairman of the GUS in the special statement. Worth mentioning is the fact that in spite of changing the PKD classification, the REGON number will be the same, However, the change should be made clear in the National Court Register.

This regulation is another example of adjusting Polish standards to worldwide standards. Undoubtedly it will make it easier to compare statistic data from all over the world.
